PR Log (Press Release) –
Feb 25, 2010 – Porcelain was the holy grail of European Alchemists in the 17th century; it had been produced in China for over a thousand years but its secrets were closely guarded.
Finally in the early 18th century the Alchemist Johnann Fredrick Bottger unlocked its secrets and what became known as White Gold was finally produced but such was its cost only the Royal families of Europe could afford to buy it.
Over the years the costs came down and all enjoyed its quality. Then during the latter stages of the 20th century its popularity waned, great Porcelain manufacturers cut back or ceased production all together.
Now as we start into the 21st century artists are again using the medium of Porcelain to create new and exciting textures and designs for the modern world.
Joanna loves making ceramics, transforming porcelain liquid slip into beautiful works of art. It is a fascinating process as she strives to push the limitations of the material to discover new ways and means of producing pieces that were thought impossible a few years ago.
Her pieces are elegant and simple she allows the smooth lines of the Porcelain to give movement and shape to each piece, always pushing the boundaries of her imagination.
Joanna says that creating a successful piece of work is very addictive, and she knows her innovative spirit brings artistic vitality to all the new ceramic forms she creates.
